Xiaomi has released the Redmi K80 with upgrades on the processor, battery, newer design, and more.
For the Redmi K80, Xiaomi went with the newer Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, up from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 of the K70. It is attached to a dual-loop vapor chamber that keeps it and the cameras cool. The chip is paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
The biggest upgrade is in the battery. It now has a 6,550mAh capacity, 1,550mAh bigger than before. What’s more impressive is, it’s actually 0.1mm thinner, so it is possible Xiaomi used the same silicon-carbon battery tech as other brands.
Xiaomi also included their dedicated P3 charging and G1 battery management chips. Sadly, charging speeds were dropped to a safer 90W from 120W. Still, no wireless charging.
For the screen, we have a 6.67-inch OLED QHD+ display with a lot of bells and whistles: HDR10+ support, Dolby Vision, 12-bit color, and 120Hz refresh rate.
There’s a Corning Gorilla Glass 7i to protect the screen and an IP68 dust and water-resistant rating to protect the whole device.
For the cameras, the Redmi K80 uses a 50-megapixel OmniVision OVX8000 sensor with a bright f/1.6 aperture and optical image stabilization. No telephoto, sadly, but there’s an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens. A 20-megapixel camera is on the front.
It also boasts the latest WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and ultra-sonic fingerprint scanner, and will ship with the latest Android 15-based HyperOS 2.
The Redmi K80 is now available in China for a price of CNY2,499 (~Php20,200) for the 12GB/256GB model, CNY2,699 (~Php21,800) for the 16GB/256GB, CNY2,899 (~Php23,500) for the 12GB/512GB, CNY3,199 (~Php25,900) for the 16GB/512GB, and CNY3,599 (~Php29,100) for the 16GB/1TB.
Like its predecessors, it may arrive in the Philippines under a different name, possibly under the POCO brand.
