Sony A7 V launched in the Philippines

Sony’s flagship mirrorless camera, the Sony A7 V, is now official and has arrived in the Philippines right in time for Christmas. The Sony A7 V is great for both photos and videos, featuring the same 33-megapixel Exmor RS CMOS sensor as before, but now with a partially stacked design. This allows for a full-time electronic shutter so you can shoot quietly and blackout-free with 30fps continuous bursts. It comes with a fast BIONZ XR2 image processor that has an integrated AI chip. Apart from improved image and video recording and stable color reproduction, it offers AI-backed real-time recognition and subject tracking. The sensor is attached to a 5-axis optical image stabilizer. Plus, it has a lightweight RAW format that churns out smaller files for easier management. HUAWEI launches the Mate 80 Pro alongside the vanilla Mate 80, which shares a lot of similarities.

For today, we’ll be focusing on the HUAWEI Mate 80 Pro. It has a more powerful Kirin 9030 (Kirin 9030 Pro for the 16GB) processor, while the non-Pro has a Kirin 9020. It also has a faster 100W wired and 50W wireless charging, while the Mate 80 only has 66W and 50W, respectively.

They also differ in the camera setup. The Pro model has a 48-megapixel telephoto camera that offers 4x zoom. However, the main and ultra-wide cameras are the same on the Mate 40.

There’s the 50-megapixel main shooter with a 1/1.28-inch RYYB sensor and variable aperture of f/1.4-f/4.0. We also have a 40-megapixel ultra-wide lens. A 13-megapixel sensor is on the front for selfies.

Both phones have the same 6.75-inch LTPO OLED screen with a 2.8K resolution, 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate, 1440Hz PWM dimming, and 300Hz touch sampling rate. They also boasts a whopping 8,000 nits of peak brightness.

They both run on HarmonyOS 6, have the 2nd-gen Red Maple, and will have a bunch of AI features. Both phones also have the same 5,750mAh batteries.

The HUAWEI Mate 80 Pro is now in China with a price of CNY5,999 (~Php49,700) for the 12GB/256GB, CNY6,499 (~Php53,800) for the 12GB/512GB, and CNY6,999 (~Php57,900) for the 16GB/512GB, and CNY7,999 (~Php66,200) for the 16GB/1TB.

HONOR has released a new smartphone with a name we haven’t heard from them before, the HONOR X9c Smart.
