The global report identifies a group of leaders it calls “frontier firms.” These are businesses that have progressed beyond experimentation and use AI extensively across their entire organization.
In the Philippines, the finance and telecom sectors are leading this charge. Firms in these industries are already reporting substantial financial benefits from their widespread AI use.
These companies apply AI to a diverse range of functions. This includes improving customer support, managing risk, developing new products, and streamlining internal systems.
Success of these early adopters coincides with a high rate of AI acceptance in the country. Recent data shows 86% of Filipino office workers use AI tools. An overwhelming 89% of leaders also believe AI is critical for staying competitive.
A significant challenge has emerged alongside this rapid adoption. The study found 83% of employees are using their own AI applications at work, often without any official company guidance.
Microsoft advises that to achieve similar results, other organizations must create clear AI plans and focus on training. The research concludes that companies which hesitate to fully embrace AI may soon find themselves at a serious disadvantage.
