Micron Technology announced that it will be shutting down its RAM consumer business under the Crucial brand in 2026.
Crucial is the latest victim of AI. Micron said that the heavy demand from AI data centers forced it to shut down the consumer brand.
This move will allow Micron to “improve supply and support” for their “larger, strategic customers in faster-growing segments.”
Micron will continue shipping remaining Crucial consumer products until February 2026 and assured customers it will honor warranties.
They will then continue selling enterprise products under the Micron brand to the commercial market and will reassign Crucial employees within the company.
This news came after months of price hikes in the RAM industry, which is expected to worsen by next year due to the rapidly increasing demand in AI data centers.
