Samsung has launched its first tri-fold smartphone, surprisingly with no fanfare. Meet the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold.
Unlike the HUAWEI Mate XT, the outer screen is separate from the main display on the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold. The dual titanium hinges fully protect the main display when not in use, and switch you to the smaller screen on the back.

The Galaxy Z TriFold is about 2 inches bigger diagonally than the Galaxy Z Fold7. It has a 10-inch tri-folding screen — that’s about the size of most tablets out in the market.
This display has a 2160 x 1584 pixel resolution, 1-120Hz refresh rate, and a humble 1,600-nit peak brightness.

We then have a 6.5-inch display on the back, so you can use the device like a normal-sized smartphone. It has similar specs with a tall 21:9 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 protection. Both screens have their own 10-megapixel selfie cameras.
The special Android 16-based One UI 8 interface took advantage of the larger screen, allowing for desktop-like multitasking with Samsung DeX and better support for mouse and keyboard.

It has a 5,600mAh battery that’s been divided into the three panels of the device. Like its cousins, it only has 45W wired and 15W wireless charging.
The device is quite heavy at 309g, but is only about 3.9mm when unfolded. 12.9mm when folded. It’s quite durable with its Advanced Armor Aluminum frame and IP48 dust and water resistance.

Under the hood, we have a true flagship chip: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. You can get it with 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage.
It then shares the same cameras as the Galaxy Z Fold7. There’s the 200-megapixel main shooter, 10-megapixel 3x telephoto, and 12-megapixel ultra-wide.

Pricing for the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold is yet to be announced.
