Acer Aspire S 27, S 24 AIO: up to Intel Core 7 350 CPU, 16GB RAM, 1TB storage

Acer is at IFA 2026 in Berlin and unveiled tons of new hardware, including the Acer Aspire S 27 and Aspire S 24 AIO (all-in-one) computers. The Acer Aspire S 27 can be had with either a QHD display with a 120Hz refresh rate, or a FHD resolution with a higher 144Hz refresh rate. The S24 is available in a single IPS panel with a 144Hz refresh rate. They can be powered by up to an Intel Core 7 350 processor, with up to 16GB single-channel RAM, and up to a 1TB M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 4 SSD. They run on Windows 11 Home, have a 2-megapixel webcam with privacy shutter, a plethora of ports, modern WiFi 6E connectivity, Bluetooth 5.3, and a 65W AC adapter. Filipino students bag 4 medals at International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence

The Philippine delegation delivered impressive performance during its participation in the International Olympiad in Artificial Intelligence (IOAI). Held last August in Astana, Kazakhstan, the competition saw the four-member Filipino team secure medals in every category, bringing home one silver and three bronze awards. They competed against a massive field of 466 high school students representing 108 different countries and territories. The silver medal was earned by Theo Lorenzo T. Bustamante from the Philippine Science High School–CALABARZON Region Campus, who managed to rank 80th overall. The bronze medals were claimed by three other students: Ellison Matthew S. Free scam checker in PH analyzes message behavior, not just keywords

A professor from National University Manila has built a free website where people can check if their text or chat messages are fraudulent. The platform is called “ Scam Ba ‘To? ” and it assigns risk levels of Red, Yellow, or Green after analyzing what the message tells the user to do, the web addresses it contains, and the overall situation around the transaction. The tool does not mark messages as scams simply because they include one-time passwords or push users to act quickly. People can copy and paste questionable messages into the system. It then returns a risk rating and gives a clear explanation behind its decision. When available, it also points users to legitimate official channels they can refer to. Transsion continues to dominate PH smartphone market, HONOR cracks Q2 2026 rankings

Transsion, the mother company behind Infinix, TECNO, and Itel, is on a roll in the Philippines. This latest update came from Omdia’s Southeast Asia smartphone shipment report for Q2 of 2026. It shows that Transsion managed to stay on the top spot by having a 33% market share. Xiaomi climbed to the second spot with a 22% market share, while Samsung suffered a decline, dropping to the third spot. HONOR finally cracked the top list by climbing to the top spot with a 10% market share, beating OPPO, who suffered a loss on the said quarter. The rankings are good news to some, and bad news to others. What’s clear is that all of them suffered negative annual growth in that quarter for the whole region.
