Samsung devices now work with Apple’s AirDrop

For years, sharing files between Samsung and Apple devices has been a bit of a headache. But that’s about to change. Samsung has announced that its Quick Share feature will now work with Apple’s AirDrop. This means users on both sides can finally send photos and other files to each other without needing a third-party app. According to Samsung’s announcement , the new AirDrop support will launch first on the Galaxy 26 series. The company said additional devices will be added later, though it did not give a specific timeline for those. The feature started rolling out last week. It became available first in Korea and is now expanding to Asia, Europe, and America. If you have a Galaxy S26, you can start using it by checking for software updates. Epson, one of the most popular printer brands in the world, has also made strides in the Point of Sale (POS) printer market, claiming the top vendor spot in Southeast Asia has launched the Epson POS Printer TM-U220II series.

The new POS printer series comes in three models: TM-U220IIA, TM-U220IIB, and TM-U220IID, engineered for reliability, designed with industry-standard settings, and offering enhanced features for restaurants and retail operations.

The POS system market is estimated to be worth USD 4.4 billion in 2023 (5.3% CAGR between 2024 and 2032). This ever-increasing growth and demand for the POS setting and related hardware in the retail and food and beverage operation industry requires efficient printers with advanced features that can keep up with the times.

Enhanced adaptability, reliability, and efficiency

Each printer in the Epson POS Printer TM-U220II series offers enhanced adaptability with varied advanced functions based on the application:

  • Type A – Basic receipt printing, auto-cutter, journal paper printing, and enabling the storage of historical sales transactions for tracking and reporting
  • Type B – Basic receipt printing + auto-cutter
  • Type D – Basic receipt printing

Types B and D can also be wall-mounted to optimize space.

The TM-U220II series is also compatible with various printer interface ports, including USB, serial, ethernet, and parallel, with an optional Wi-Fi dongle, ensuring easy set-up and compatibility.

The three POS printers are also durable. Their printer mechanism can last up to 7.5 million lines, and their auto-cutter is rated for 800,000 cuts. They can also maintain a fast printing speed of up to 6.0 lines per second on two-ply paper simultaneously.

“Printers from the TM-U220II Series have been built to thrive in fast, high-pressure environments; they not only offer newly-upgraded features, serving as an updated model to its preceding series, but also incorporate features that better support industry needs through sustainable yet effective means,” said Noelle Gonzalez, Head of Marketing Division at Epson Philippines. 

You may also include an optional buzzer OT-BZ20 via a Drawer Kick port (ideal for kitchen use) to notify kitchen staff whenever new orders come in for a more efficient kitchen operation.
