Google Maps has added a new feature that lets people ask questions about places using everyday language. The tool, called Ask Maps, is now working for users in the United States and India.
The feature runs on Google’s Gemini AI technology. It is available in English on Android and iPhone devices. Google plans to add Hindi support soon.

How it works
Users can tap the Ask Maps button and type or speak their questions. The tool looks at information from more than 300 million places listed on Google Maps. It also uses reviews written by over 500 million people who contribute to the app.
For example, someone could ask: “What are some places with good vegetarian food where I can watch the game tonight?” They could then ask a follow-up question like: “Which of these has easy parking?” The feature will pull answers from reviews and other content shared by real people.
Personal answers
Ask Maps can remember what users like. If someone often looks for vegetarian restaurants, the tool will suggest those first when they ask for food recommendations in a new city.
The feature can also help with specific needs. Someone planning a trip with older parents could ask for places that do not require much walking. The tool will then suggest spots that are easier to get around.
Other things it can do
Ask Maps can compare driving and public transport options based on traffic and travel time. It can show nearby cafes, help book restaurant tables, save places to lists, and start navigation.
Google says the feature aims to cut down on the time people spend searching multiple websites and reading through reviews when planning trips or nights out.
The company plans to add the feature to more countries and languages in the coming months.
