Google launches free offline AI dictation app for iOS

Google just dropped a new dictation app that works without an internet connection. “ Google AI Edge Eloquent ” quietly launched on iOS this week, competing directly with apps like Willow, SuperWhisper, Wispr Flow, and others. The app uses Google’s Gemma-based speech recognition model, which gets downloaded to your phone once you install it. After that, you can dictate anywhere with no data connection needed. By default, cloud mode is on, using Gemini for text cleanup. Switch it off and everything stays on your device with local-only processing for privacy.

The Google AI Edge Eloquent app can also pull names, keywords, and jargon from your Gmail account. You can add your own custom words too. It tracks your words-per-minute speed, total words dictated, and keeps a searchable history of all your sessions.

Currently iOS only, but the App Store listing of Google AI Edge Eloquent app references an Android version coming soon.
