Razer Hammerhead V3 HyperSpeed earbuds improves latency, battery life

Razer-Hammerhead-V3-Hyperseed

Razer has just dropped a new pair of wireless earbuds aimed at people who play games on multiple devices. Meet the new Razer Hammerhead V3 HyperSpeed and Hammerhead V3 X HyperSpeed.

The main feature is speed. When you are playing a game, even a tiny audio delay can throw you off. Razer designed these earbuds to keep that lag very low by using its own 2.4GHz wireless system. This works with a lot of different hardware, including the PS5, Steam Deck, computers, tablets, and smartphones.

If your device does not support that type of connection, you can still use regular Bluetooth. The earbuds come with a small USB-C dongle stored inside the charging case. That dongle pulls double duty. It works as a wireless transmitter when you plug it into your device. And you can use the dongle by itself without the case if you want.

One handy feature is fast switching. You can jump between the 2.4GHz connection and Bluetooth without much trouble. For example, you could be playing a game on your PC and then switch over to your phone to listen to music.

The battery life is pretty solid. You get 40 hours total when you include the charging case. The earbuds themselves run for 10 hours per charge, and the case holds enough power for four full recharges. You can fill up the case using a USB-C cable. And here is a nice detail: the case can charge even while the dongle is actively streaming audio.

Razer also improved the active noise cancellation compared to the older model. And if you are using the earbuds with a PC, they support THX spatial audio for a more surround sound like feel.

The Hammerhead V3 HyperSpeed will be priced at $130 (~Php7,800). For those looking to save some money, Razer offers a cheaper version called the Hammerhead V3 X HyperSpeed. That one costs $100 (~Php6,000). It uses Bluetooth 5.3 instead of Bluetooth 6.0, and the battery does not last quite as long. But otherwise, it is very similar to the more expensive model.

At first glance, it may appear too technical, but it’s actually straightforward. What does the IP code mean? The “IP” in the IP code stands for Ingress Protection, an internationally recognized standard defined by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) that indicates the level of dust and water protection of a gadget, such as a mobile phone or other electronic device.
