Disney reportedly considering buying Epic Games

A new rumor suggests Disney is looking to purchase Epic Games , the company behind Fortnite and the Unreal Engine technology. The information comes from tech journalist Alex Heath, who said during a recent podcast appearance that several top executives at Disney are pushing for the deal. He noted that opinions inside the company are mixed, so no final decision has been made. Disney and Epic already know each other well. Fortnite has hosted multiple events featuring Disney characters and stories over the years, including Star Wars and Marvel themes. The two companies also have a financial connection. In early 2025, Disney invested $1.5 billion in Epic, giving it a significant ownership stake. A full buyout would mean much more than just owning Fortnite. Epic’s Unreal Engine is used widely across Hollywood. Disney already relies on it for shows like The Mandalorian. That technology could become even more important to Disney following the recent shutdown of OpenAI’s Sora video servi...

soundcore launches Boom 3i and Boom Go 3i outdoor speakers in the Philippines

Just as the summer heat kicks in and everyone starts planning pool parties and beach trips, soundcore has released two new outdoor speakers designed to handle whatever the season throws at them.

The audio brand, which is part of Anker Innovations, launched the soundcore Boom 3i this week. It’s a rugged Bluetooth 5.3 speaker built specifically for outdoor adventures. The speaker comes with IP68 water and dust resistance, which means it can handle being submerged in water up to 1.5 meters deep for 30 minutes.

One of the highlight features is that the Boom 3i floats. The design keeps the speaker upright in the water, so you don’t have to worry about it sinking if it falls into the pool or ocean. It also offers five times the saltwater resistance of regular speakers, with testing showing it can handle up to 2400 hours of salt spray without corrosion. If you drop it, it can survive a fall from 1 meter onto concrete.

The speaker delivers 40 watts of power from a woofer and a 10-watt tweeter, plus two bass radiators. With soundcore’s BassUp 2.0 technology switched on, the bass output increases by 3 decibels, giving twice the bass of similar sized speakers. You can also pair two speakers together for true stereo sound.

For those who like a bit of a light show, the Boom 3i has programmable LED lights on the bass radiators on both sides. You can control these through the soundcore app, which also lets you adjust the EQ and access some handy smart features.

One useful tool is the Emergency Alarm, which triggers a 96 decibel alert when you hold the BassUp button for five seconds. There’s also a Voice Amplifier for broadcasting messages through the speaker, and a feature called Buzz Clean that uses vibrations to shake out dust and debris.

Soundcore Boom Go 3i

The Boom 3i comes in three colors: Jungle Green, Deep Ocean Blue, and Adventurer Black. It offers up to 16 hours of playtime on a single charge.

Alongside the Boom 3i, soundcore also released a smaller companion called the soundcore Boom Go 3i. This palm-sized speaker packs 15 watts of power and lasts up to 22 hours. It also has IP68 water and dust resistance and comes with a dual-mode strap system so you can attach it to bags, bikes, or gear.

Both speakers are now available in the Philippines. The Boom Go 3i is priced at Php2,995, while the larger Boom 3i costs Php5,995. You can buy them through the brand’s official website or through their stores on Lazada, Shopee, and TikTok Shop.
