OPPO aims to go carbon neutral by 2050

Every April 22, people around the world stop to think about the planet. That day is Earth Day. This year, the tech company OPPO is using the date to talk about its own environmental promises. OPPO makes phones and other gadgets for more than 760 million people across 90 countries. The company has promised to bring its carbon emissions down to zero by 2050. That means its entire operations, from offices to factories, would stop adding to climate change. One of the biggest changes is in the packaging. OPPO used to put a lot of paper guides inside its product boxes. Now the company is moving that information online. In 2025 alone, this switch saved about 110 million sheets of A4 paper. To put that in perspective, that is like saving 13,000 mature trees. It also cut carbon emissions by roughly 3,500 tons. The company is also changing the materials it uses. Instead of relying only on petroleum based plastics, OPPO now mixes in natural waste like tea residue. These green materials repla...

vivo has introduced a new wallet-friendly phone in China called the vivo Y6t.

The new vivo Y6t comes with a 6,500mAh battery, which is much larger than what you get on most budget smartphones. The Chinese smartphone brand also says the phone has passed a 5-star drop and shock test from SGS, so it should survive the usual accidental drops and bumps of daily life.

The screen is a 6.74-inch LCD panel with HD resolution with refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Under the hood, the phone runs on a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. The software is OriginOS 6, which is based on Android 16 right out of the box.

As a budget handset, there’s not much to expect in terms of the camera. The back has just one camera sensor with 13 megapixels, autofocus, and an f/2.2 aperture. The front camera for selfies and video calls is 5 megapixels. Both cameras can shoot video at 1080p resolution.

Charging speed is quite slow for its battery capacity, as it only supports 15W wired charging. The good thing is it supports OTG reverse charging. That means you can plug another device into the phone, like a pair of earphones or a smartwatch, and the Y6t can share its battery power with that device.
