Xiaomi has just released a new smartwatch for children in China. It is called the Redmi Kids Watch Pro.
The watch has a unique flip-up body that houses two cameras. One points at the user, and the other points outward. Both have 5-megapixel sensors, so kids can take selfies or snap pictures of their surroundings.
The device monitors heart rate and blood oxygen. It also includes 18 exercise modes and five fitness tests. A special alert sends a notification to parents if the child gets too close to bodies of water like ponds, pools, or rivers.

What makes this watch stand out is its location tracking. Even if the watch turns off, it can still share the child’s location for up to five days. It uses nearby Xiaomi gadgets to send the signal through the company’s device network. The watch also shows the exact floor inside a building and updates the position every second. It can even recognize subway stops and store travel routes for parents to review.
Children can make friends by bumping their watches together. This works with other brands too. The watch also supports safe versions of WeChat and QQ for texting and calls.
Parents can check a dashboard that shows screen time, app usage, and activity levels. They can also set limits and schedule the watch to switch off during class time.
The watch costs CNY1,199(~Php10,900). For a limited time, customers can buy it at a discount for CNY1,045(~Php9,500).
