PH to phaseout legacy 2G and 3G networks

The Philippine government is preparing to officially retire its outdated 2G and 3G mobile networks. The goal is to free up valuable radio frequencies so they can be used by faster, modern 4G and especially 5G services. But before this could happen, this transition requires the passage of a new law, the Konektadong Pinoy Act, according to Henry Aguda, Information Secretary for the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). Aguda explained that because only about 1 in 7 Filipinos (roughly 15%) still uses basic 2G or 3G phones, it makes sense to shut these networks down. We also have a familiar 6.6-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate, 1,200-nit peak brightness, and protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.

There’s a sharp 50-megapixel selfie camera on top of the screen that has autofocus and 4K@60fps video recording capabilities.

The rear sports a 50-megapixel LYT 600 main sensor with OIS, which is now joined by a 50-megapixel 3.5x telephoto lens, and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide glass.

Finally, it ships with Android 15-based ColorOS 15 that comes with Google Gemini and a bunch of other AI features.
