A rumor from weeks ago suggests that ASUS will not release a smartphone this year. Now, we have more depressing news.
The company confirms that it will completely exit the business and will no longer make smartphones.
In an event at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, ASUS Chairman Jonney Shih said that they are not planning to release any new smartphones.
Existing users can still expect software updates, after-sales support, and maintenance on their phones.
Reports suggest that ASUS will now focus its R&D and resources on commercial PCs and AI hardware like smart glasses and robots.
ASUS shifting focus is no surprise. Shih said that its AI server business achieved a 100% growth in 2025. The company, as a whole, earned TWD738.91 billion (~Php1.38 trillion) in revenue last year.
