LTO warns: Vehicles with unauthorized plates face penalties starting September 1

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced that it will start penalizing motor vehicles that use unauthorized plates starting September 1, 2026. This is after the recent widespread online sale of improvised license plates, where LTO-issued plate replicas are sold. LTO Chairperson Markus Lacanilao said that motor vehicles that use an improvised plate without authorization will be impounded. Meanwhile, those who have authorization but purchase LTO-issued replicas sold online will have the said replica plates confiscated. He said that motorists who lost their license plates must apply for an affidavit of loss so they can get an authorization to use an improvised plate. The temporary plates must have the words “improvised plate” or “lost plate” written on them, instead of copying the legitimate plate issued by the LTO. Acer has its sights on the MacBook Neo with the new Acer Go Air 2026.

Like the MacBook Neo, the Acer Go Air 2026 is a compact, chic, and relatively affordable laptop available in four youthful, pastel colors: Blue, Green, Pink, and Purple. It only weighs around 1.19kg, is 12.99mm thick, has a 180-degree hinge, and boasts an all-metal body.

There’s a compact 14-inch IPS display with a high 120Hz refresh rate and 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution with DC dimming for eye safety. It’s 1 inch bigger than the MacBook Neo.

It is powered by an Intel Core 5 320 processor, which is based on Intel’s new 18A process. It is paired with 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 512GB of SSD storage.

You then get two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports and one USB-A. Keeping the lights on is a 70Wh battery, which Acer claims lasts for up to 19 hours on a single charge. Speaking of charging, the 100W USB-C adapter can provide a 50% charge in just half an hour.

Acer also included an 180-degree hinge, a webcam with facial recognition and physically privacy shutter, a backlit keyboard, a Corning Gorilla Glass cover, and an Acer AI suite.
