LTO warns: Vehicles with unauthorized plates face penalties starting September 1

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) announced that it will start penalizing motor vehicles that use unauthorized plates starting September 1, 2026. This is after the recent widespread online sale of improvised license plates, where LTO-issued plate replicas are sold. LTO Chairperson Markus Lacanilao said that motor vehicles that use an improvised plate without authorization will be impounded. Meanwhile, those who have authorization but purchase LTO-issued replicas sold online will have the said replica plates confiscated. He said that motorists who lost their license plates must apply for an affidavit of loss so they can get an authorization to use an improvised plate. The temporary plates must have the words “improvised plate” or “lost plate” written on them, instead of copying the legitimate plate issued by the LTO. Lacanilao added that they will go after the sellers of said unauthorized plates and have already coordinated with the Phi...

HONOR-Pad-20-Pro

HONOR has announced a more capable tablet with a Snapdragon 8 series processor, a large and fast display, and a big battery. This is the HONOR Pad 20 Pro.

Obviously, the HONOR Pad 20 Pro offers more capable hardware than the vanilla Pad 20. It upgrades the Snapdragon 7 series chipset to a sub-flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 CPU, backed by 8GB of RAM and 256GB of, sadly, non-expandable storage.

You still get a large 10,100mAh battery, but it is now paired with a faster 66W charger. HONOR claims that it can do up to 12 hours of continuous video playback on a single charge.

The display is the same size. It’s a 12.1-inch IPS panel with a sharp 3K resolution, an extra smooth 165Hz refresh rate, and works with an HONOR Magic Pencil 4s stylus, with an optional anti-glare coating if you get the Paperlike Edition. DC dimming is also here.

It ships with Android 16-based MagicOS 10, equipped with HONOR AI features and a desktop mode with resizable windows so you can use it like a laptop.

You also get an 8-megapixel selfie camera, 13-megapixel rear shooter, the latest WiFi 7 connectivity, and Bluetooth 6.0.

Amazon announces two new Tomb Raider games

Get ready to dust off your climbing axes. Lara Croft, the legendary treasure hunter, is returning to consoles and computers in a big way. Following a long break from solo adventures, two major new games in the Tomb Raider series were revealed at The Game Awards 2025. The last time players controlled Lara in a core series game was 2018’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Now, publisher Amazon Games and longtime developer Crystal Dynamics are bringing her back with a pair of distinct projects. The first is Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis , a full remake of the original 1996 game that started it all. It is being built with Unreal Engine 5 by Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog. Fans can expect a visual overhaul for Lara’s first journey, which the announcement suggests will still include prehistoric creatures. This remake is planned for launch in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Following that will be Tomb Raider: Catalyst , an entirely new story set for release in 2027....

Sei Crypto Wallet to come pre-installed on Xiaomi phones

Xiaomi and The Sei Development Foundation, a non-profit that promotes the Sei network, have entered a global partnership that aims to promote mainstream blockchain adoption. From 2026, Xiaomi phones available outside mainland China and the United States will come pre-installed with a wallet and crypto discovery app developed by Sei Labs. This would definitely help increase the adoption of the network as Xiaomi is one of the biggest smartphone vendors in the world, just behind Samsung and Apple. Participating phones will be able to conduct peer-to-peer payments, explore Web3 products, and access decentralized applications without the need to download third-party apps. What’s more, Sei plans to implement stablecoin payments in over 20,000 Xiaomi stores, starting in Hong Kong and the European Union. Sei Labs aims to “build a decentralized NASDAQ” and targets to accommodate 200,000 transactions per second as it aims to shift the financial ecosystem on-chain. To make it possible, th...
