HMD Fusion: Modular design, SD 4 Gen 2 CPU, 90Hz HD+ display

HMD has launched a new phone sans the Nokia branding. The company is taking its consumer freedom approach to a new level with the new HMD Fusion. The new HMD Fusion comes with interchangeable covers called Fusion Outfits. It lets you put wireless charging, have a more rugged protection, or put a ring light that’s great for selfies and live streams. The said covers attach to the Smart Pins on the back of the device. What’s more, you can 3D print your own designs via the open-source HMD Fusion Development Toolkit. Like the HMD Skyline, the semi-transparent plastic frame lets you easily repair and replace the screen, battery, and other major components. HMD also promised to offer spare parts for the next seven years through iFixit. The new HUAWEI P60 series, the brand’s photography-focused flagship line, have been announced. Now, it comes in three: the vanilla P60, the fancier P60 Pro, and the new P60 Art.

Announced alongside the Mate X3, the HUAWEI P60, P60 Pro, and P60 Art share the same 6.67-inch LTPO OLED screens with 2700 x 1220 pixels and a 1-120Hz refresh rate. They also have the famed Kunlun glass and an in-display fingerprint scanner.

The trio also has the same 48-megapixel main cameras with OIS and RYYB sensors. They also have a variable aperture of f/1.4-f/4.0. Plus, with 13-megapixel ultra-wide cameras, albeit the Pro Art uses a sharper 40-megapixel sensor.

As for the telephoto, the vanilla model has a 12-megapixel sensor with OIS and a 125mm equivalent, while the P60 Pro and P60 Art share the same 48-megapixel sensors with OIS and a 90mm equivalent that can do 3.5x optical and 100x digital zoom. All three models come with a HUAWEI XD Fusion Pro texture engine.

As a standard, the trio gets a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor sans 5G connectivity. The devices can also send and receive satellite messages with Beidou.

Moreover, the HUAWEI P60 and P60 Pro have the same 4,815mAh batteries with 66W and 88W wired charging, respectively. The P60 Art has a 5,100mAh Silicon-Carbon battery that offers better density. All three get 50W wireless charging.

The HUAWEI P60 has a starting price of CNY4,488 (~Php35,700), the P60 Pro at CNY6,988 (~Php55,600), while the P60 Art begins at CNY8,988 (~Php71,500). They will be available in China starting March 30 with prices in the Philippines yet to be known.
