OxygenOS 15 new features and supported devices

OnePlus has introduced the new features of the OxygenOS 15 update based on the latest Android 15 operating system plus, the update schedule for the devices that supports it. As per the company, the new OxygenOS 15 update is a big one as it focuses on speed, design and, of course, AI. OnePlus claims that the animation interactions are more refined thanks to the new Parallel Processing, which should provide smoother experience under heavy use. OnePlus also claims that the new software will take up 20% less space on the OnePlus 13 than OxygenOS 14 did on the current flagship, OnePlus 12. For the design, the new OxygenOS will come with new icons, boost animation, additional shelf card choices, and more fingerprint-unlocking animations. The company has also implemented Gaussian Blur and “comprehensive shimmering effects” across the system. OnePlus also made the notifications bar, settings menu, and control center cleaner and more straightforward. Now, onto AI. One of its best

Anthropic’s upgraded Claude 3.5 Sonnet can directly control your computer

Anthropic has a new AI model that understands what’s happening on your computer screen and executes commands, just like human users would do.

An upgraded version of Claude 3.5 Sonnet now has a feature called “computer use.” Currently available on the API, this capability allows the AI model to automate tasks and perform actions on desktop applications. It depends on a correct configuration and user prompts so the AI knows how to move the cursor, which UI elements to click on, and what input data to enter via the virtual keyboard.

Anthropic says that the “computer use” API is still an experimental feature in public beta, so expect slow performance and errors. However, feedback from early adopters should help the company improve its capabilities over time. In one evaluation designed for testing models to use computers, Claude achieved a mere 14.9 percent success rate. It’s a far cry from human proficiency, which is in the range of 70-75 percent, although Anthropic claims it’s still better than the 7.7 percent success rate of the next-best AI model.

The ability to directly control computers poses challenges to safety and security. But per Anthropic’s classification to evaluate safety and security measures, the upgraded Claude model remains within AI Safety Level 2 safeguards and doesn’t require more stringent precautions. Still, Anthropic warns its users of cyberattacks such as prompt injection, which allows hackers to manipulate the AI’s actions.

Besides the new computer use feature, the upgraded Claude 3.5 Sonnet has improved performance over its predecessor. Based on several evaluations, it demonstrated better reasoning, superior proficiency in coding tasks, and better problem-solving skills in math. Anthropic also plans to release Claude 3.5 Haiku later this month, an updated version of its fastest and most compact AI model.

Xiaomi 14 Ultra: SD 8 Gen 3, 120Hz AMOLED, 1-inch sensor, Titanium Edition

Xiaomi has introduced in China its best smartphone to date, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, just a few days before its global debut at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona this February 25. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra looks similar to its predecessor in terms of the layout. But this time, it’s more refined, and Xiaomi is joining in on the Titanium hype as it will come with a Titanium Special Edition model, which uses a grade 5 titanium like the new iPhone 15 Pro series. Oddly, it weighs 229.6g, which is heavier than the black and white (22.4.4g) and Dragon Crystal (229.5g) colors. The Titanium will also exclusively get two-way satellite communication. Another similar but refined feature is the cameras. It still has four 50-megapixel shooters, however, the main one gets an upgraded 1-inch Sony LYT-900 sensor. It also has a wider f/1.63 aperture, which can be dropped to f/4.0. The other three cameras use the same 1/2.5-inch Sony IMX858 sensor. That’s for the ultra-wide lens with a 12mm eq
