Forty-six percent of Filipino professionals use generative artificial intelligence (AI) at work monthly.
This is according to a 150,000-participant survey conducted by Jobstreet by SEEK, 6,400 of which are Filipinos from varying industries, educational attainments, and age groups.
The study also showed that Filipino professionals are ahead in using GenAI technologies, such as ChatGPT, Dall-E, Gemini, Copilot, and others, compared to only 39 percent of the global average utilizing the emerging tech.
The survey also showed that Filipino employees aged 18 to 24 were twice as likely to use Generative AI than other age groups.
Regarding the common use of gen AI, they found that writing and administrative tasks are the most typical use of the new technology at work, while 58 percent viewed skill development and learning as another use of the technology.
Additionally, professionals in the digitalization and data sciences space use it most frequently, with 71 percent, while the second-highest, 65 percent, came from the information technology (IT) industry.
Crafts or physical work are the most concerned with AI’s impact, with 56 percent expecting significant changes in their roles. Meanwhile, those working in the technical and engineering fields believe their jobs are unaffected.
With AI having the potential to disrupt the workforce and displace workers, the research showed that over 74% of Filipino professionals are eager and willing to reskill to stay relevant in the age of AI and the changing workforce, while 24% would only consider reskilling if absolutely necessary.
