PH, Australia team up for ‘cyber boot program’ to boost online defense

The Philippines and Australia are looking to strengthen the Southeast Asian nation’s cyber defense through a “cyber boot program. ”  The program aims to impart technical skills to improve the Philippines’ awareness of preparing for cyberattacks and online threats and what to do if they do happen. Professor Helge Janicke of the Australian Cyber Security Cooperative Research Centre said, “We are looking at awareness programs and war gaming exercises. Buying the new iPhone 16 at full price can be costly, which is why some consumers prefer a staggered payment plan. Home Credit Philippines offers Apple’s latest flagship device through affordable installment options.

To make the highly anticipated iPhone 16 series more accessible, Home Credit customers can choose between two payment plans: a 12-month installment option with no interest or a 24-month plan at a one-percent interest rate per month. Both options require a 30-percent down payment as part of the application process, which is swift and user-friendly, requiring only one valid ID and can be approved in as little as one minute.

To apply, simply approach a Home Credit sales representative at any branch of the Apple authorized reseller Digimap. Pre-approval for product installments can also be secured through the Home Credit app, available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.

Other stores and partner merchants also offer the iPhone 16 series through Home Credit installments. These include Abenson, Aerophone, Octagon, Power Mac, and Silicon Valley, alongside more than 5,000 Apple resellers nationwide.

On October 17, Home Credit organized a midnight “salubong” event to coincide with the official release of the iPhone 16 series in the Philippines. Sheila Paul, the company’s chief marketing officer, stated that the company’s mission is “to help Filipinos enhance their everyday experiences.” She emphasized their flexible installment options that make the latest devices more affordable without straining customers’ budgets.

Announced in September, the iPhone 16 series features an upgraded battery and a faster A18 CPU, which Apple claims is two generations ahead of the A16 Bionic chip found in the iPhone 15. Physical buttons are back, namely a new Action Button that users can configure to perform various phone functions and a Camera Control button for camera functions. Reviews are mostly positive, although some note that camera image quality may lag behind that of Android flagships.
