HONOR, a global provider of smartphones and smart devices, started the year with a bang —by“bang,” I mean the sound of a phone hitting the ground after a massive fall and remaining intact.
In 2023, HONOR ran over an X9a with a car. Last year, they dropped an HONOR X9b from a height of 100 feet using a drone. This year, they want to take on a new height (literally), dropping their latest model from a height of 500 feet (approx. 50 floors high).
The latest smartphone from HONOR Philippines, the HONOR X9c 5G, is the most awaited phone of the year for its toughness and durability.
“HONOR X9c 5G has an all-angle triple defense now. It is not just drop-resistant anymore, where HONOR X9a and X9b 5G were known for. It is now water and heat-resistant that made this smartphone the toughest phone to hit the market yet,” HONOR Philippines Vice President Stephen Cheng said.
Here are the technologies giving ultra-toughness to the X9c 5G model:
- Back-to-back Super Double Tempered Glass
- Technical Principle-Under-Screen Shock-Absorbing Material
- Three-layer Water-Resistant Structure
The HONOR X9c 5G now has 360-degree drop resistance up to two meters (6.5 feet) in height, which means you can drop it on any side, and it will remain unscathed. It has also survived more than 10 surface drop tests. Its water resistance technology has also improved, ensuring the safety of the internal parts if they ever fall underwater.
The X9c 5G can also withstand above-normal temperatures, according to the manufacturer, which claims it can withstand a temperature range of -40 to 70 degrees Celsius. Some videos even demonstrate this feature by boiling the phone in water like a stew.
While these claims and videos look impressive, it’s important to note that HONOR doesn’t encourage consumers to try it out themselves, as these tests were done in controlled environments.
The HONOR X9c 5G will officially launch in the Philippines via a live stream event on January 10, at 6PM.
