After about eight years, Nintendo has finally unveiled a proper follow-up to the first Switch. Albeit, all they have for now is a first-look trailer for the Nintendo Switch 2.
The video showcases a couple of visual improvements to the Nintendo Switch 2. It is now noticeably bigger as it’s rumored to have an 8.4-inch OLED display, with thinner bezels.
Nintendo also upgraded the Joy-Cons, which are now bigger and attaches more conveniently using magnets. The right Joy-Con comes with a new button next to the home buttons. Both left and right controllers will also get new triggers on the back.
We also have an updated U-shaped kickstand that looks cleaner and accommodates more angles.
The button layout looks identical to before. There’s the power and volume controls on the top left, a headphone jack and secondary USB-C port on the right, and cooling vents in the middle. Another USB-C port is at the bottom.
More details, including actual hardware specs and performance improvements, will be revealed on a special Nintendo Switch 2 launch event happening on April 2.
They will also put up Experience Events in select cities in North America, Europe, Oceania, and Asia (the Philippines not included, sadly) starting in April.
