Here’s some good news for gamers who enjoy playing open-world video games, as they may provide more than just entertainment and pastime; they may also improve your mental health.
A recently published article in the Journal of Medical Internet Research revealed that cognitive escapism through immersive game worlds can allow players to experience a sense of freedom and autonomy, leading to relaxation and improved mental well-being.
Unlike previous research that focused on the general effect of video games on mental health and well-being, this new study conducted by researchers from the Imperial College of London and the University of Graz narrowed down the research to the impact of open-world video games among post-graduate students.
