Radius Telecoms, Inc., a subsidiary of Meralco, has launched a Distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) scrubbing center at its international point of presence in Hong Kong.
This move enhances their cybersecurity protection for enterprise customers by filtering malicious traffic, which floods websites with fake traffic to overwhelm the target website.
Radius partnered with Singapore’s Nexusguard, a leading DDoS cybersecurity solutions provider, and Total Information Management (TIM), a Filipino IT equipment and peripherals supplier, to enhance its ability to manage malicious attacks on its network.
According to Nexusguard’s 2024 Autumn Report, there has been a surge in DDoS attack size and duration, as shown by the 135% increase in average attacks and 163% increase in duration year over year. This trend is expected to worsen.
“This new investment allows us to block DDoS attacks in real time, ensuring we meet our low-latency commitments to enterprise customers while maintaining high reliability of our internet services,” said Radius’ OIC Chief Operating Officer Alfredo B. Solis.
This has been reciprocated by Nexusguard’s Chief Technology Officer, Juniman Kasman, “This collaboration underscores the importance of a combined effort to address the growing threat of DDoS attacks. By leveraging our expertise alongside Radius’ network, we aim to provide businesses with the protection they need to maintain operations.”
Radius Telecoms, Inc. (RADIUS) is a Meralco company that delivers its services on an end-to-end full fiber optic network covering key business districts in Mega Manila and nearby provinces, as well as Central Luzon, Clark, and Cebu.
