HONOR is currently one of the most aggressive smartphone makers in the world. They always want to gain attention with their releases as they crave more market share and recognition. From their cheapest smartphones up to their latest flagship, the HONOR Magic7 Pro, the company’s products are always dressed to impress.

Design and Build Quality
Like its predecessor, the HONOR Magic7 Pro isn’t afraid to be slightly bulky. It’s 8.8mm thick and weighs 223g — a bit higher than other flagships around — especially during a time when weight and thickness are going down. While I can easily feel its size in my hands, I still appreciate how comfortable it is to hold. And considering all the hardware inside, I’ll cut them some slack.

The flat aluminum frame gives good grip when taking pictures or watching movies, while the subtle curves in the front and rear glass panels make it nice to hold for longer periods.
Similar to HONOR’s more affordable smartphones, the Magic7 Pro has extensive durability features as well. It has an IP68/IP69 dust and water-resistant rating, which means it can survive 1.5m water depths for up to 30 minutes and water jets with temperatures of up to 80 degrees.

Unlike most phones that rely on Corning, HONOR used its own NanoCrystal Shield glass, which they claim is 10x more drop-resistant than regular glass. HONOR still pre-applied a screen protector for extra protection, so users won’t need to get one.

You can also use the free rubber case for extra protection. It has a matte gray color, which looks clean, but sadly conceals the beautiful design of the device.

Speaking of design, the color we have is called Lunar Shadow Gray. Its misty gray appearance looks clean and straightforward, with pretty accents that shine great with light. Breeze Blue and Black are also options, albeit more boring than the hero color.

The camera island looks similar to the Magic6 Pro‘s squircle design. The square aspect is now more subtle, though, as it looks more circular than before.

Taking a tour, we have a 6.8-inch 1.2K LTPO OLED screen with thin bezels on the front, with a pill-shaped notch for the 50-megapixel selfie camera and ToF 3D sensor. The fingerprint scanner was comfortably positioned a little higher.

Speaker grills are on top, together with the IR blaster and noise-isolating microphone.

Left side is clean, while the right has the volume controls and lock/power switch. The buttons are flat and blend seamlessly with the frame. They are very clicky, tactile, and well-made — as expected from a flagship handset.

The bottom has the SIM tray for two nano SIM cards, a primary microphone, USB-C port, and a primary loudspeaker. Like most flagships, there’s no slot for microSD card expansion.

On the back, we have the camera island. The pill-shaped LED flash is on the center top, with the cameras laid out in a 4×4 format. The first one is a special sensor, next to it is the 200-megapixel periscope lens, and below are the ultra-wide and main cameras.
Overall, I would say that the HONOR Magic7 Pro is not the sleekest smartphone around because of its thickness and weight, but it still ranks high as one of the most elegant. It’s simple yet impressive, especially with its ergonomic and durable design.
Display and Audio
The HONOR Magic7 Pro has everything you’d ever want from a flagship display. It’s a 6.8-inch LTPO OLED screen with a 2800 x 1280 pixel resolution, ~453ppi, 1-120Hz adaptive refresh rate, 1,600-nits under high brightness mode, whopping 5,000-nits on HDR, and Dolby Vision support.

As expected, I get vibrant colors and deep contrast when streaming TV shows and movies. The adaptive refresh rate improves battery efficiency and makes scrolling feel extra smooth, while the extra high brightness makes it usable during a hot summer day outside.
Dolby Vision, HDR, and Widevine L1 support for FHD Netflix streaming also worked well during our tests.

Sound quality is often overlooked, but not with Magic7 Pro. I’m blown away by the stereo speakers. The volume gets really loud, the treble is insanely crisp, the bass is thumping and powerful, and the stereo separation is discernable due to the large display giving the two drivers ample space between each other. It’s like having a tiny Bluetooth speaker in your hands.
Hardware and Performance
HONOR’s best smartphone is powered by one of the best mobile chips around. It’s the 4.32GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. It also has a dedicated HONOR C2 communication chip, S1 security chip, and HONOR E2 for power management.
HONOR Magic7 Pro Benchmark Scores

Day-to-day performance was incredibly fast and smooth — possibly the smoothest you can ever experience on a smartphone. But that’s not really surprising, considering it’s powered by the fastest Qualcomm mobile chipset today.
Now, let’s see how good it is in gaming and if it will suffer from overheating issues.

Genshin Impact ran smoothly under the Highest resolution, High Visual effects, and 60 frames. No frame drops, no heating, even after extended periods of gaming. PUBG Mobile ran fine under Ultra HDR graphics and Ultra frames, or Smooth graphics and Ultra Extreme frames if you prefer smoothness like us.
Call of Duty Mobile under Max graphics and frame rates experienced no frame drops, as well as Farlight84 under Extreme graphics, Very High frames, and SGSR enabled. Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Asphalt Legends Unite, two of the lightest games in this test, ran smoothly under the highest available settings.

To no one’s surprise, the HONOR Magic7 Pro crushed all the games I threw at it without breaking a sweat.
Game | Graphics Settings |
Call of Duty: Mobile | • Graphics Quality: Max • Frame Rate: Max |
Farlight84 | • Graphics Quality: Extreme • Frame Rate: Very High • SGSR: Performance Mode |
PUBG Mobile | • Graphics Quality: Ultra / Smooth • Frame Rate: Ultra / Ultra Extreme |
Genshin Impact | • Render Resolution: Highest • Visual Effects: High • FPS: 60 |
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang | • Graphics Quality: Ultra • Frame Rate: Ultra • HD Mode: On |
Asphalt Legends Unite | • Visual Quality: High Quality • Frame Rate: 120 |
Software and User Interface
The HONOR Magic7 Pro runs on Android 15-based MagicOS 9, and HONOR pledged it will receive 7 years of OS upgrades and security patches — one of the longest software support by today’s standards.

While the overall look of the interface remains the same, MagicOS for HONOR’s latest flagship gained a lot of features, especially in the AI department.

HONOR AI plays a big role in the new user experience. Magic Portal, the feature that lets you drag and drop texts and media from one app to another, has been updated with a Knuckle Circle feature.
HONOR’s AI Deepfake Detection can be enabled in the settings, which can analyze faces in video calls and alert you if they are real or not.

Features like AI app suggestions are also here, Magic Texts for extracting texts on images, and Smart Sensing. The Air Gestures and Eye Tracking work fine, but not always, and I think the time spent on the learning curve is not worth it.
AI Privacy Call is also a nice feature that minimizes sound leakage in quiet environments.

HONOR’s AI Eraser is possibly the best I’ve seen. It can easily detect obstructions, even bigger ones, and fill it up intelligently. More often than not, it gets the fill right, unlike other AIs that get confused (yes, I’m looking at you, Apple).

AI Upscale is a great addition that works well with the camera’s 100x digital zoom. With this, images can get the extra sharpness needed to make them pop.

Is the photo not fit for an Instagram Story? AI Outpainting lets you fix aspect ratios by filling empty spaces in a frame.

Standby is a neat feature I first saw on HONOR foldables. It turns your phone into a nightstand in AOD mode when the device is in landscape orientation, whether it’s charging or not.
If you have the time for it, you can play with the different customization options available in the settings. This way, you can pick one that suits your taste.

The ultrasonic fingerprint scanner worked blazing fast in our tests. I also appreciate how the scanner is a little higher than most phones, so it’s easier to reach by the thumb.
Face unlock also worked seamlessly and securely, thanks to the dedicated 3D depth sensor.

HONOR’s Game Manager window is not the best I’ve seen. It would’ve been nice to see the CPU and battery usage data from the main window, as well as the temperature, fps, and more. There’s plenty of other options, though, so it’s still feature packed.

Like most phones, the Magic7 Pro has a virtual RAM expansion feature called HONOR RAM Turbo, which adds 12GB of space to the memory from the storage. There are no settings to configure it, though.
I spotted a few bloatware, but most of them are removable, so no worries. Plus, the device’s built-in storage cleaner does a good job of analyzing the system for junk files and categorizing what kind of media and files are taking up too much space.

The camera app is as feature dense as ever and is easy to use. It’s also nice to see HONOR switching from Microsoft SwiftKey to Google Keyboard, which I prefer due to its familiarity and the fact that it’s the one used by most brands.
Cameras
The Magic6 Pro had some of the most impressive camera setups in the market, so it’s no surprise that HONOR decided to do the same for the Magic7 Pro. What we have here is a 200-megapixel telephoto camera with an f/2.6 aperture, 72mm focal equivalent, multi-directional PDAF, and optical image stabilization (OIS).

We have a 50-megapixel sensor for the main shooter, which has an f/1.4-f/2.0 aperture, 24mm equivalent, Laser AF, multi-directional PDAF, and OIS. Another 50-megapixel sensor is used for the ultra-wide lens, which also has PDAF.
On the front, we have a 50-megapixel camera for selfies with PDAF. The camera sensors are backed with AI HONOR Image Engine. It can shoot up to 4K 60fps videos and 240fps slow-mo videos at 1080p. Harcourt portrait modes are also here, similar to the HONOR 200 series.

Daylight shots from the 50-megapixel main camera are very impressive. We got vibrant yet realistic colors, dynamic range is almost spotless, and details remain sharp even when you crop in.

The HONOR Magic7 Pro’s main camera also shines through in low light. Details remain sharp, with little to no visible noises and grains. Exposure and dynamic range are handled well. even in challenging lighting conditions.

Thanks to the large sensor, the main camera can confidently shoot 2x zoom photos on crop. It has a focal equivalent of 48mm, which is great for portraits. Apart from the closer zoom, the details and overall image quality stay identical to the 1x, day or night.

The default photos from the 200-megapixel telephoto camera don’t look as sharp (in terms of resolution) as they should be due to pixel-binning. Shots at the standard 72mm equivalent are only 12.5-megapixel resolution. To get the full resolution, you have to enable the High-Res hidden in the camera.
Details still look nice and clean. Colors and contrast are also as good as the main shooter. And it’s not like you’d need the full 200-megapixel resolution, anyway.

Now, you might be wondering what’s the point of the 200-megapixel camera if it only takes 12.5-megapixel shots. Well, the answer is better digital zoom. See, the Magic7 Pro is capable of 6x and up to 100x digital zoom.
The 6x zoom has a 144mm equivalent. Thanks to the ultra-sharp sensor, details under this focal length are almost identical to the 3x zoom.

Check out the samples below taken from the main and telephoto cameras to give you an idea of how far you can shoot by using the Magic7 Pro. Unsurprisingly, you’d start to lose more details as you go beyond 5x. That’s where the AI Image Upscaler from the gallery and AI Super Zoom come in handy.

Ultra-wide shots from the second 50-megapixel sensor are as good as expected, albeit the barrel distortion could’ve been handled better. We’re seeing the same impressive dynamic range, sharpness, and colors.

Selfies from the 50-megapixel front camera are excellent. It’s got more details than needed for social posts, skin tones are accurate, low-light performance is superb, and the portrait mode is clean, thanks to the dedicated 3D depth sensor.

From the beefy and flexible camera hardware to the masterful image processing and other software extras, the HONOR Magic7 Pro is definitely one of the most fun smartphones to shoot with, whether you’re a pro photographer or not.
Battery and Charging
The HONOR Magic7 Pro now has a 6,000mAh battery, up from its predecessor’s 5,600mAh. It supports 100W wired, 80W wireless, as well as reverse wired and wireless charging

It offers great battery life in real-world use, although it doesn’t really stand out from its competitors. It lasted for 11 hours and 53 minutes in PCMark’s synthetic battery loop test, versus the average score of 15 hours and 33 minutes that other phones we’ve tested in its segment.
In our 1080p YouTube Video Loop Test, it lasted for 15 hours and 26 minutes before dropping to 0 from a 100% charge. That’s close to the average score of 15 hours and 32 minutes that others got.

The 100W fast charger can provide a 0-39% charge in just 15 minutes — great for those who are always in a hurry. A full charge only takes around 46 minutes. See our full test results below:
- 15mins: 0-39%
- 30mins: 69%
- 45mins: 97%
- 46mins: FULL
Verdict
After spending a lot of time with it, there’s no doubt that the HONOR Magic7 Pro is one of the best value-oriented flagship phones in the market. It’s a combination of many great things, from the features to the price, beating a lot of its competition.

While the design is a bit basic, the subtle pattern makes it look really elegant. The Magic7 Pro’s build also makes it a comfortable and practical smartphone to carry daily. I also had a great time with the feature-rich display, made even better by the superb stereo speakers.
The versatility and impressive image quality from the cameras make it a fun smartphone to shoot on. Plus, the extended software support makes it an even more appealing investment if you want a smartphone that can last for a long time.

If you’re spending high-end money on a phone, and you want to get the most hardware out of it, then the HONOR Magic7 Pro should be on the top of your list.
