Apple has updated the iPad Pro and the 14-inch MacBook Pro with the latest M5 silicon chip. For today, we’ll focus on the laptop. The new Macbook Pro M5 is powered by a 10-core CPU, 10-core GPU, and up to 24GB RAM and 1TB of storage. The new chip is exclusive to the 14-inch model and has yet to reach the 16-inch model. The OPPO Reno14 Pro 5G is the latest addition to the growing Reno series.
While it launched with a couple of interesting hardware and software features, it’s been overshadowed by the price increase. From the Reno13 Pro‘s Php43,999, the OPPO Reno14 Pro now costs Php4,000 more at Php49,999.
But is the Reno14 Pro really that much better than its predecessor to warrant that much of a price hike? Let’s find out in our full review.

Design and Build Quality
The OPPO Reno14 Pro looks exactly the same as before. Apart from the repositioned tertiary camera and LED flash, we still have the two primary shooters in their old locations, sitting inside a square camera island.
Color options are not that different, too. Our review unit is the Titanium Grey. An Opal White is also available. They look nice on the glass rear panel, with a matte coating so it stays clean from fingerprints.
While the design looks similar to the last generation, it did carry the durability features we appreciated from its predecessor. It is IP68/69 dust and water-resistant, which allowed us to shoot underwater without worries.
The Reno14 Pro still has the same Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection on the front, which OPPO reinforced by pre-applying a screen protector for extra peace of mind.
The aluminum frame feels smooth in the hands and sturdy enough to ensure durability. It does have flat edges with curved corners to provide comfort while improving grip.
It may not be the slimmest, but it’s still really thin at just 7.48mm for the Gray and 7.58mm for the White. Thanks to the silicon carbon battery, it achieved this incredible size while having a large 6,200mAh capacity.
But it does have some weight at 201g, which is slightly heavier than other phones in its price range.
Taking a tour, we have the large 6.83-inch AMOLED screen on the front, with a punch-hole for the 50-megapixel selfie camera. It’s got ultra-thin bezels all around. The in-display fingerprint scanner is also here.
The top has the stereo speaker, noise-isolating microphone, and the IR blaster.
Left side is clean, while the right has the lock/power button and volume controls. The physical buttons are flat and sit flush with the frame. They are tactile and clicky.
The bottom has the SIM tray for two nano SIM cards, primary microphone, USB-C port, and the primary loudspeaker.
On the back, we have the 50-megapixel telephoto camera on top, the main shooter below it, and the ultra-wide on the right.
The OPPO Reno14 Pro 5G has a functional design. But like I said earlier, the looks are pretty basic. Nothing wrong with that, as it might appeal to those who want a more serious looking phone.
Display and Audio
The OPPO Reno14 Pro 5G sports a large 6.83-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen, with a 2800 x 1272 pixel resolution, ~450ppi, HDR10+ support, 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling, and 10-bit color. We also have 100% DCI-P3, coverage and 1200 nits of peak brightness at high brightness mode.
Display quality is pretty solid. HDR10+ works well, sharpness is ample, and the screen size is more than enough for multitasking. Outdoor visibility is also good, thanks to the high maximum brightness.
The stereo speakers are good, but not great. Stereo separation is audible, treble is clean, and the bass is enough, but it could be deeper.
Hardware and Performance
Powering the OPPO Reno14 Pro 5G is a MediaTek Dimensity 8450 processor, a worthy upgrade from the Dimensity 8350 with better NPU and connectivity features. But for its asking price, it’s pretty underwhelming. It is paired with Mali-G720 MC7 graphics, 12GB of RAM, and 512GB UFS 3.1 of non-expandable storage.
OPPO Reno14 Pro Benchmark Scores
Day-to-day performance is relatively fine. Browsing through social media, taking pictures, making calls, and more were not a problem, but could be a lot smoother. Oddly, it lagged behind its predecessor in AnTuTu and GeekBench tests, possibly due to optimization issues. Now, let’s see how it handles games.
Genshin Impact ran fine under High resolution at 60 frames per second. It did get warm after a while, but not enough to flag it as overheating.
Shooter games like PUBG Mobile ran smoothly with Ultra HDR graphics and Ultra frame settings. Call of Duty Mobile under Max settings, as well as Farlight84 under HD graphics at 60 frames, also performed really well.
Mobile Legends was seamless under the highest available settings, as well as Asphalt Legends Unite.
Gaming performance was really solid, with decent thermal management resulting in consistent frame rates even after hours of gaming.

Software and User Interface
The OPPO Reno14 Pro 5G ships with Android 15-based ColorOS 15. According to OPPO, the whole Reno14 series will receive five major ColorOS upgrades. That’s a very big and welcome commitment from the brand to make sure that the phone will stay supported for at least 5 years.
ColorOS is still one of the neatest, straightforward, yet heavily customizable interfaces around.
AI is expected to remain as the main focus for 2025 phones, and its impact is anticipated to continue growing in the years to come.
The AI Summary can provide a concise bullet-point summary of long articles, emails, documents, and more. While the AI Speaker can narrate them for you if you’ve got your hands full. They can be easily accessed in the Sidebar on applicable documents.

As with most Android 15 phones, it uses Google Gemini as the default AI assistant. Buyers of the Reno14 and Reno14 Pro will also enjoy a free 3-month subscription to Google AI Pro.
In terms of security, the optical fingerprint scanner was fast and reliable during our tests. Face unlock was seamless, too, even in low-light scenarios.
The Phone Manager app optimizes your storage by analyzing the system and discovering junk that you can quickly remove with a press of a button.
Virtual RAM Expansion is also here, allowing you to borrow 4GB, 8GB, or 12GB of space from the storage for an extra performance boost. The RAM settings can also show current RAM usage.
Cameras
One of the redeeming qualities of the OPPO Reno14 Pro 5G is its 50-megapixel cameras. The main one has an f/1.8 aperture and 2-axis optical image stabilization, joined by an ultra-wide lens with autofocus, and one with a 3x telephoto lens with 2-axis OIS. The fourth one is for selfies and has a 90-degree wide lens.
OPPO highlights its Underwater feature, which disables the screen so you can shoot while submerged in water. You can use the physical buttons to take a photo, record a video, or exit the Underwater mode.
The camera can shoot 720p at 30fps, 1080p at 60fps, and 4K at 30/60fps. Slow-mo recording is also available in 720p at 240fps and 960fps or 1080p at 120fps and 480fps.
Daylight shots looked great. The dynamic range was flawless, the colors are realistic, and the details look sharp even when you zoom in to inspect closely.
This sharp sensor offers 2x lossless zoom that is great for taking portraits.
Despite the digital crop, details remain impressively sharp. The Portrait Mode also works well, with realistic background blur and foreground separation.
The main camera held up fine in low-light shots, but there’s a noticeable drop in details, especially when you zoom in.
Still, indoor and night shots are good with an impressive amount of exposure, good dynamic range, and fine colors.
The 50-megapixel telephoto camera that offers 3.5x optical zoom inherits the same impressive image quality of the main one, with a longer focal length that lets you frame faraway subjects better. Low-light performance is also not an issue.
Tap the 7x zoom and you get a digital crop with a 170mm equivalent. You can turn the zoom slider all the way up to 120x to get a 2928mm shot, but it would be grainy especially before post processing.
Expect a drastic loss in sharpness, which is inevitable for digital zooms. Still, shots are usable if you desperately need to take pictures of really faraway objects.
The 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera did struggle with the highlights in some of the shots, the details aren’t as sharp, and low-light shots could be better.
But the colors still look nice, and the barrel distortion is acceptable.
The 50-megapixel front camera captures selfies with accurate skin tones. Just make sure you disable the face beauty modes for a more accurate photo, unless you want smoothened face. The dynamic range is good, and details look extra sharp.
More than its impressive numbers on paper, the cameras on the OPPO Reno14 Pro really delivered great photos all around.
Battery and Charging
The OPPO Reno14 Pro 5G comes with a 6,200mAh silicon-carbon battery paired with an 80W SUPERVOOC wired charging. That’s a good upgrade over the Reno13 Pro’s 5,800mAh capacity.
Oddly enough, it lagged behind its predecessor in terms of the synthetic battery test. It only lasted 11.1 hours in PCMark’s battery test, while the Reno13 Pro lasted 14.15 hours.
On the upside, the bigger battery was really felt in the 1080p YouTube Video Loop Test. It lasted for 21.18 hours. That’s about 1.75 hours longer than its predecessor.
The 80W SUPERVOOC charger was fast. A 15-minute charge already takes you from 0 to 33%, with a full charge taking less than an hour.

Verdict
The OPPO Reno14 Pro 5G is a great all-around device, but hindered by its ridiculously high price tag.
It did redeem itself by having extensive durability certifications, a feature-dense display, good speakers, and a polished interface with long software support.
There’s also the long and reliable battery life, fast charging, and of course, the sharp triple 50-megapixel cameras.
Still, for a sub-Php50,000 smartphone, the OPPO Reno14 Pro 5G should already have a more powerful chip.
But if you’re a fan of the Reno Series, you might still consider it if you’re coming from something older, like the Reno10 or earlier models.
