The Philippines is the 2nd most targeted country for job scams in Asia — report

The Philippines is a top target for online job scams, according to a new security report. The findings reveal that the country ranks second in the Asia-Pacific region for fraudulent job postings. The data comes from employment platform SEEK, which studied fraud trends across eight markets from July 2024 to June 2025. Indonesia was the number one hotspot, with the Philippines following closely behind. Scammers most often create fake listings for office administration roles. These positions are targeted because they attract many applicants and require little specialized experience. Sales jobs and roles in manufacturing and logistics are also frequently impersonated. For Filipino freelancers, study reveals a mix of flexibility and financial anxiety How to spot fake job recruiters on LinkedIn To protect users, SEEK uses automated systems and human reviewers to screen employers and their job ads. AI fraud concerns cause Filipino shoppers to leave apps — report

Online-AI-fraud

Filipino shoppers are approaching the holiday sales with significant concern about mobile scams, according to a new security report. The study shows that sophisticated fraud, fueled by artificial intelligence, is causing users to delete apps at alarming rates.

The 2025 report from Appdome reveals that 43.4% of Filipinos consider mobile identity theft their primary worry. A massive 74.7% have already removed or stopped using applications due to security fears, indicating that trust is rapidly eroding.

Global data confirms a heightened threat, with fraud attempts during major sales periods like Cyber Week jumping by 22% to over four times the usual amount. Experts warn that AI tools are enabling new dangers such as deepfake payment verifications and automated account theft.

This creates a clear demand from consumers. An overwhelming 86.7% of survey respondents want preventative protection that stops fraud before it happens, not compensation afterward. Nearly half believe app creators themselves are responsible for providing this security.

Despite recognizing AI’s potential, over 30% of Filipinos feel it makes apps less safe. While 84% expect applications to defend against AI-powered threats, only 60% are confident in their current capabilities, a gap putting pressure on businesses.
