Many people have problems remembering passwords, so they use the most basic combinations. While that’s convenient, you might be in for a big problem if you don’t change it quickly.
Comparitech published a list of the most common passwords for 2025. To create the list, the team “aggregated more than 2 billion real account passwords leaked on data breach forums in 2025.”
“123456”, “admin”, and “password” continue to be on the top list. Some people just don’t take passwords seriously. If you remember, it’s been reported that the password for the video surveillance system in The Louvre, the famous Parisian museum recently heisted, was simply “Louvre”.
You can see the top 20 list of most used passwords for 2025 below.

To keep you safe, it’s best to use a longer password. You can try using a phrase with four to six random words so you can remember it easily.
As per Comparitech, 65.8 percent of the passwords they analyzed had fewer than 12 characters, while only 3.2 percent used 16 or more characters.
