Smart drops 5G Max Home WiFi price to Php2,995

Smart is offering its 5G Max Home WiFi router at a 40% discount through November 20, 2026, bringing the price down to Php2,995 from the usual Php4,990 — a massive Php1,995 discount. The package is up for grabs at Smart Stores nationwide and on the Smart Online Store. Aimed at households where fiber has not yet been rolled out, the device uses 5G Fixed Wireless Access to deliver up to 600Mbps over Smart’s nationwide 5G network. It can connect up to 40 devices at once, and customers can get online by simply plugging it in and inserting the included SIM — no installation visit required. The Smart 5G Max Home WiFi promo bundle ships with a Smart SIM and 15 days of free unlimited data, plus the router itself; after the trial, UNLI 1299 adds another 30 days of all-app unmetered access. For heavy-use households, that means a single device can carry work calls, 4K streams, and online gaming sessions across multiple screens without dropping off. Smart is leaning into 5G F...

Google offers free AI tools to Filipino college students for one year

Google-Gemini-students

Google is giving college students in the Philippines a free year of its AI Plus plan.

The package comes with several study tools powered by artificial intelligence. Students can upload their class materials like reading lists and presentations. The system then creates a study schedule, makes practice questions, tracks how much they have learned, and adds important dates to their calendar.

The subscription also includes a feature for talking with the AI assistant, 3D images that help explain difficult subjects, and a morning summary of tasks that need attention.

Storage is part of the deal too. Each student gets 400GB of space across Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos for the full 12 months.

To avail the offer, students need to go to the student hub website or open the Gemini app. They need sign in with their school account and confirm they are currently enrolled at an approved college or university.

Students are also required to input a payment method to start the free period. Google says no charges will apply during the promotional year.

The offer must be claimed before December 31, 2026. Students who used a similar Google promotion last year can still apply again if they verify their status once more.

Once the free year ends, the plan will switch to a paid subscription unless the student cancels before that time.

Amazon announces two new Tomb Raider games

Get ready to dust off your climbing axes. Lara Croft, the legendary treasure hunter, is returning to consoles and computers in a big way. Following a long break from solo adventures, two major new games in the Tomb Raider series were revealed at The Game Awards 2025. The last time players controlled Lara in a core series game was 2018’s Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Now, publisher Amazon Games and longtime developer Crystal Dynamics are bringing her back with a pair of distinct projects. The first is Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis , a full remake of the original 1996 game that started it all. It is being built with Unreal Engine 5 by Crystal Dynamics and Flying Wild Hog. Fans can expect a visual overhaul for Lara’s first journey, which the announcement suggests will still include prehistoric creatures. This remake is planned for launch in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Following that will be Tomb Raider: Catalyst , an entirely new story set for release in 2027....

Sei Crypto Wallet to come pre-installed on Xiaomi phones

Xiaomi and The Sei Development Foundation, a non-profit that promotes the Sei network, have entered a global partnership that aims to promote mainstream blockchain adoption. From 2026, Xiaomi phones available outside mainland China and the United States will come pre-installed with a wallet and crypto discovery app developed by Sei Labs. This would definitely help increase the adoption of the network as Xiaomi is one of the biggest smartphone vendors in the world, just behind Samsung and Apple. Participating phones will be able to conduct peer-to-peer payments, explore Web3 products, and access decentralized applications without the need to download third-party apps. What’s more, Sei plans to implement stablecoin payments in over 20,000 Xiaomi stores, starting in Hong Kong and the European Union. Sei Labs aims to “build a decentralized NASDAQ” and targets to accommodate 200,000 transactions per second as it aims to shift the financial ecosystem on-chain. To make it possible, th...
