Supreme Court starts e-notarization nationwide

Filipinos can now have documents notarized electronically anywhere in the country. The Supreme Court rolled out the service, giving commissioned electronic notaries public the ability to notarize qualified digital documents through accredited platforms. The Supreme Court’s e-notarization puts into practice the Rules on Electronic Notarization under A.M. No. 24-10-14-SC. The Supreme Court En Banc gave its approval to these rules on February 4, 2025. Two modes of electronic notarization are allowed under the rules. One is In-Person Electronic Notarization (IEN), where the signer must appear in person before the electronic notary. The other is Remote Electronic Notarization (REN), which takes place over videoconferencing. Notaries may also use a mix of both. Electronic notaries public with a commission can perform electronic notarial acts outside the territorial boundaries that limit traditional notaries, as long as they comply with the rules. Documents must be s...

PH businesses report 20% revenue growth from AI use — study

PH-business-AI-adoption

More Philippine companies are turning to artificial intelligence, with adoption climbing 52% over the last year.

A study commissioned by Amazon Web Services reported that 32% of local businesses now use AI. That is up from 21% in 2025 and translates to over 396,000 firms.

Technology companies topped the list at 49%, followed by financial services at 45% and professional services at 40%.

Results showed gains for those who took the plunge. Productivity improved for 74% of adopters, higher than the 70% recorded a year ago. Revenue grew for 68%, compared with 64%. On average, adopters saw revenue rise 20%, surpassing the earlier forecast of 15%.

Use, however, stays largely simple. Public chatbots, productivity tools, and off-the-shelf solutions remain the main applications for 70% of adopters. Eighteen percent have spread AI across several functions, while 12% employ advanced setups like custom systems and agentic AI.

A formal plan for wider AI use exists in only 17% of firms, and 57% are still testing the waters. Even so, 79% plan to expand their use in the next year, and 84% see AI reshaping their industries within five years.

A shortage of AI and digital skills topped the list of barriers at 47%. Data and technical problems followed at 39%, funding gaps at 36%, and limited staff capacity at 33%. Just 31% of workers felt confident with advanced AI tools.

Responsible AI practices remain scarce. Only 12% have a complete governance framework, yet 61% view strong oversight as an edge.

The report advised firms to shore up data quality, cloud infrastructure, and governance before scaling up. It also pushed for AI training beyond technical staff, clearer rules on AI outputs, and government support through incentives, updated regulations, and broader AI use in public services.

Strand Partners carried out the research, polling 1,000 business leaders and 1,000 members of the public.

Apple puts Vision Pro update on hold to speed up development of AI smart glasses

Apple has reportedly decided to delay plans for a major update to its high-end Vision Pro headset. Instead, the company is allegedly moving its focus to creating a new line of AI-powered smart glasses that would compete directly with products from Meta. This new rumor comes from a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman . Although Apple had been developing a more affordable and lighter version of the Vision Pro, it is now reassigning staff from that project to work on the new smart glasses initiative. According to the report, Apple is developing at least two different types of smart glasses. The first model, known internally as the N50, is designed to work with an iPhone and will not have its own built-in display. Apple’s current plan is to announce these glasses as early as next year, with a full release to the public scheduled for 2027. The second model is a more advanced version that will include its own display. This product would put Apple in direct competition with the recently a...

Framework Laptop 16 with RTX 5070 unveiled

Framework, a company that became prominent with its repairable and sustainable PCs, has released a refresh to one of its most popular products, the Framework Laptop 16. Just like its cousins, the Framework Laptop 16 has replaceable components like the CPU, WiFi, battery, and more, so you can easily upgrade only what you need for futureproofing. But there’s one component that the whole laptop industry has been struggling to make sustainable: the GPU. Now, Framework has apparently fixed that as the new Laptop 16 gets an RTX 5070 graphics module upgrade. Its predecessor has a Radeon RX 7700S, making this new one a substantial upgrade, with Framework estimating a 30 to 40 percent increase in GPU performance. With this upgrade, Framework is also including a beefier 240W USB-C charger with Power Delivery 3.1. Another interesting feat, as other 240W power adapters use a proprietary cable and not USB-C. It is also now more expensive. The new Framework 16 now has a starting pri...
