Beats Pill portable speaker with 24-hour battery life, USB-C connectivity announced

Beats discontinued its last Bluetooth speaker, the Pill+, back in 2022. Before this decision, Beats had enjoyed success with a range of smaller, portable speakers, including the original Pill and Pill XL models. 9 years after the last release, Beats has reintroduced its new Pill portable speaker, showcasing a completely redesigned and re-engineered version. The most noticeable change in the new Beats Pill is its 20-degree upward tilt, which the company claims enhances sound projection. Beats promises “more powerful, room-filling sound, bigger bass, and improved tonality” thanks to an updated woofer and tweeter combination designed to reduce distortion. Additionally, the new Pill is 10 percent lighter than the Pill+ and features a removable lanyard for easier portability. The speaker is also IP67 rated for dust and water resistance, making it durable enough to survive brief submersion in water. Similar to previous models, users can sync two Beats Pill speakers for stereo audio.

vivo-V40-5G

The arrival of the vivo V series successor is almost here and it starts with the release of the vivo V40 5G.

One of the biggest improvements on the vivo V40 5G is the ZEISS imaging technology, which used to be exclusive to the Pro model. It comes in the form of the ZEISS Multifocal Portrait that lets you shoot photos with a 24mm, 35mm, and 50mm equivalent.

As for the camera hardware, the V40 5G has three 50-megapixel cameras. The main one has optical image stabilization, the second one has an ultra-wide lens — both take advantage of the ZEISS technology. The third one is in the front for selfies, which can also be used for group shots thanks to its wide 92-degree field-of-view.

Of course, we still have the ring-style flash on the back. vivo calls this Aura Light, but for the V40, we’re yet to see what improvements it brought to the updated technology.

vivo is also highlighting the device’s colors, especially the Nebula Purple option. It is also IP68-rated for being dust and water-resistant. As per vivo, it can be submerged in “static freshwater” with a depth of up to 1.5 meters for up to half an hour.

Another big feature is the large 5,500mAh battery, paired with vivo’s 80W FlashCharge technology.

Being the midrange member of the series, it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, the same chip found on the V30 5G from a few months ago. It is joined by two RAM and storage options: 8GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB.

We then have a 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen on the front with a high 120Hz refresh rate and 4500 nits of peak brightness.

Xiaomi 14 Ultra: SD 8 Gen 3, 120Hz AMOLED, 1-inch sensor, Titanium Edition

Xiaomi has introduced in China its best smartphone to date, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, just a few days before its global debut at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona this February 25. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra looks similar to its predecessor in terms of the layout. But this time, it’s more refined, and Xiaomi is joining in on the Titanium hype as it will come with a Titanium Special Edition model, which uses a grade 5 titanium like the new iPhone 15 Pro series. Oddly, it weighs 229.6g, which is heavier than the black and white (22.4.4g) and Dragon Crystal (229.5g) colors. The Titanium will also exclusively get two-way satellite communication. Another similar but refined feature is the cameras. It still has four 50-megapixel shooters, however, the main one gets an upgraded 1-inch Sony LYT-900 sensor. It also has a wider f/1.63 aperture, which can be dropped to f/4.0. The other three cameras use the same 1/2.5-inch Sony IMX858 sensor. That’s for the ultra-wide lens with a 12mm eq
