Huawei to pre-install HarmonyOS on all devices starting this 2025

Chinese consumer electronics giant Huawe i will now use its native operating system, HarmonyOS, on all its new devices, including smartphones, tablets, and wearables, dropping Android support on its previous devices this year. Initially mentioned during the launch of the Mate 70 family , the Mate X6 foldable , and the MatePad Pro tablet in November 2024, the said devices were the first Huawei gadgets to ship using the operating system. Now that it’s 2025, all upcoming devices will roll out with a built-in HarmonyOS Next. In the early development of Huawei phones and tablets, they used Android as their operating system. However, things got sour after US sanctions. They have since pivoted and developed a more self-reliant OS, giving rise to the development of HarmonyOS. The vivo Y200+ is now out as the eighth member of the ever-growing budget series.

It looks identical to its siblings, in both the design and specs design. The vivo Y200+ is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 that you can pair with either 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of storage.

The Y200+ comes with a large 6,000mAh battery for extensive screen-on time, and a 44W adapter for speedy charging. Since it’s first coming out of China, it will ship with Android 14-based OriginOS 4.

It is also IP64 dust and water-resistant and weighs fairly heavy at 199g, but only 7.99mm thin.
