Rumor has it that Apple plans to shake up its iPhone release next year to make way for its first foldable smartphone.
The report suggests that the iPhone 18 Pro and upcoming iPhone Air models will come out together, while the vanilla iPhone 18 and the possible successor to the iPhone 16E will be pushed to spring (around March-May) the year after.
Meanwhile, the foldable is expected to come out in 2026, but which part of the year is unknown.
Bottom line is, Apple needs to reschedule their smartphone releases now that new models are coming. Six iPhones launching all at the same time would be too much, not just for Apple, but also for the market.
Going back to the foldable, the report suggests that Apple is going with a book-style form factor instead of the flip style. It is expected to have a compact 5.7-inch cover screen and a large 8-inch foldable panel. It will continue to rely on FaceID and will only be about 4.8mm thick.
