HUAWEI nova 14 Ultra: LTPO 3.0 display, Triple 50MP cameras, 100W charging

HUAWEI has unveiled the nova 14 series in China, led by the HUAWEI nova 14 Ultra — the fanciest of the three. While the company hasn’t officially disclosed the chipset they used on the HUAWEI nova 14 Ultra , leaked benchmarks reveal that it is a Kirin 8020 processor that brings 5G connectivity and clock speeds of up to 2.29GHz. A key feature here is the fancier display. It uses the latest LTPO 3.0 OLED panel that’s 6.81 inches in size, has curves on all four corners, a whopping 5,500 nits of peak brightness, and Kunlun glass protection. There’s a pill-shaped notch on top for the extra-sharp 50-megapixel selfie camera with ultra-wide support and a dedicated 8-megapixel portrait lens with 2x zoom. We then have a trio of impressive cameras on the back, aided by a dedicated spectral sensor. The 50-megapixel main shooter has optical image stabilization and f/1.4-f/4.0 variable aperture. We also have a 50-megapixel periscope lens with 3.7x optical zoom and a 13-megapixel ultra-w...

PLDT launches Sta. Rosa data center, draws plan for Php40 billion site in Cavite

PLDT-NoypiGeeks-5923

Telecom giant PLDT Inc. continues its move in the data center infrastructure sector with the completion and inauguration of the 11th facility in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. The next step is to develop a plan for building the 12th and largest data center, which will be located in Cavite.

“We do intend to expand our data center capacity to up to 500 megawatts (MW). We have to be at least equal to the capacity of Malaysia… You have our pledge to make the Philippines a data center hub,” said PLDT Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan during the VITRO Sta. Rosa data center inauguration.

The VITRO Sta. Rosa site is currently the largest data center campus in the country, located on a five-hectare property in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. It can handle up to 50 MW capacity and is said to be the first AI-ready hyperscale data center in the Philippines.

Data-Center-Philippines

With the opening of the Sta. Rosa facility, the ePLDT fully owned subsidiary VITRO Inc., now operates 11 data centers across the Philippines. This includes sites in Makati (two facilities), Taguig, Pasig, and Parañaque in Metro Manila, as well as Subic and Clark, Cebu (two facilities), and Davao.

Pangilinan recently told reporters that VITRO Inc. is currently finalizing plans for its 12th data center, to be constructed on a 10-hectare lot in General Trias, Cavite, owned by Metro Pacific Investment Corp (MPIC), with a capacity of up to 100 MW – twice as much as VITRO Sta. Rosa.

However, considering the cost and size of the upcoming data center project in Cavite, estimated at up to Php40 billion, Pangilinan said they plan to construct it in five phases, each with a capacity of 20 MW, with construction starting in 2026 and completion expected in 2028.

With the world becoming increasingly digital and the rise of AI, demand for data centers is also on the rise. Today, rival telcos PLDT and Globe Telecom are racing to position themselves as the country’s data center hubs.
