Amazon Prime Video adds vertical video feed similar to TikTok

Amazon is copying a popular social media trick for its Prime Video app. The company has added a new way to browse shows and movies that feels a lot like TikTok. The feature is called Clips . Instead of watching traditional movie trailers that fill your whole screen in landscape mode, these videos are vertical. That means you can hold your phone normally, like you are scrolling through Instagram or TikTok, and just swipe up to see the next clip. Here is how it works. When you open the Prime Video app on your phone, you will find these short videos on the main page. Tap on any clip, and it will take over your whole screen. The feature is called Clips. Instead of watching traditional movie trailers that fill your whole screen in landscape mode, these videos are vertical. That means you can hold your phone normally, like you are scrolling through Instagram or TikTok, and just swipe up to see the next clip.

Amazon first tried this idea with basketball highlights from the NBA. Now the company has opened it up to include scenes and moments from many different movies and TV shows available on Prime Video.

The update is not available to everyone just yet. Right now, only some users in the United States can see the Clips feed. It works on iPhones, Android phones, and Amazon’s own Fire devices. The company says that all users on those same devices will get the feature eventually.
