Spotify will reserve concert tickets for ‘real fans’ of artists

Buying concert tickets in 2026 is a huge pain. You log on early, the website crashes, and bots grab everything before you even get a chance. Spotify thinks it has a better way. The company just announced a new program called Reserved . The idea is to help real fans skip the madness. Here is how it works. Spotify will look at your listening habits, how often you share songs, and your overall activity on the app. It will also check that you are a real person and not a bot. Then, if the system decides you are a big fan of a certain artist, it will hold two tickets just for you. You will not have to fight thousands of other people or search for secret codes. Instead, you get a private buying window that lasts about one day. After that, any leftover tickets go on sale to the general public. But there are rules. You need to be 18 or older. You also need a paid Premium account. And the program starts in the United States first. Other countries will get it later. Spoti...

Buying concert tickets in 2026 is a huge pain. You log on early, the website crashes, and bots grab everything before you even get a chance. Spotify thinks it has a better way.

The company just announced a new program called Reserved.

Spotify is being honest that not everyone will get a chance. There are simply more superfans out there than seats in a venue. So the company says offers will depend on the artist, the tour, and your location. If you are picked, Spotify will send you an email and a notification inside the app. The company suggests turning on location settings so you do not miss the alert.

According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Spotify already signed a multi-year deal with Live Nation, the biggest concert promoter in the US, to help run this feature.

One other detail: Even if a tour does not come to your city, you can still buy tickets to any show on that tour if Spotify labels you as a dedicated fan.

Spotify announced Reserved at its 2026 Investor Day event. At that same event, it also showed off a new desktop app called Studio. That app includes an AI tool that can make personal podcasts, give music tips, and connect to your calendar. Some people think Spotify just wants to collect more user data to train its AI.

Will Spotify Reserved actually fix the ticket buying mess? It is hard to say. A big reason tickets are so hard to get is that there are too many pre-sale groups. And Spotify has already been selling pre-sale tickets through its app for a while. This new program just adds more of them.

For now, fans can only hope it helps. But until the system launches, getting a good seat still feels like a gamble.

The new HONOR X50 Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, an almost two-year-old chip. It is joined by a generous 12GB of RAM for multitasking and 256GB of storage to store all your apps, files, and photos/videos. Speaking of photography, it boasts a sharp 108-megapixel main sensor that’s 1/1.67-inch in size and has a bright f/1.75 aperture.
