AAA games on iPhones and iPads see disappointing sales figures

Despite Apple ramping up its effort to penetrate the mobile AAA gaming market, with major titles such as Resident Evil Village and Assassin’s Creed Mirage recently ported to iPhones and iPads, a new report reveals abysmal sales figures and indicates lack of user interest. Despite their availability on the App Store, these high-profile games have gained significant popularity among Apple users. Data from analytics firm Appfigures suggest that Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which launched on iOS on June 6, reached an estimated 123,000 downloads for the 90-minute trial, but fewer than 3,000 users proceeded to pay for the $49.99 fee for the full game upgrade. Other big-brand titles have also seen poor sales. Appfigures estimates that Resident Evil 4, available on iOS since December 2023, has been downloaded 357k times, but only 7,000 people opted to unlock the full game for $29.99. Meanwhile, Resident Evil Village saw approximately 5,750 users paying $15.99 for the full version. Death Stra

A day in the life with the vivo Y28 and its 6,000mAh battery

vivo-Y28-Feature-NoypiGeeks

I’ve reviewed a bunch of vivo phones over the years and the majority of them share one impressive – and surprisingly underrated – feature: battery life. Most of those smartphones last impressively long on a single charge, whether it’s from the premium vivo V series, or even from the budget-oriented Y-series, like the one I’ll be testing now – the vivo Y28.

What makes the vivo Y28 extra special is its 6,000mAh battery. I’ve already been impressed with the 5,000mAh batteries that other vivo phones have, so I’m curious to see how long this device actually lasts in real-world use.

So to find out, I’ve spent our usual busy work day with only the vivo Y28 as our only phone. I’ll walk you through our smartphone activities during the day, how much battery it consumes, and by the end of the day, see if it was able to keep up with our busy lifestyle.

Starting the day with the vivo Y28

I wake up at around 5 AM fully charged (the phone I mean, not me). Like most people, I spend around 10 to 15 minutes slacking in bed, checking and replying to unseen messages, and catching up on social media platforms. All this over WiFi, of course.

Once I muster the will to get up, I put the phone down and get ready for work. Then, I pick up the phone again, switch from WiFi to 4G, and open Google Maps to find the best route (because of traffic) to work. The navigation app, GPS, and Spotify playing over Bluetooth will run during my 30 to 45-minute drive to work.

After all those morning regimens, I arrived at work around 07:11 AM with 95% of the juice left.

It’s time to grind

As a multimedia producer, I spend a lot of time working with my phone – browsing social media to stay updated on latest news and trends, post stories on different platforms, use messaging apps when collaborating with teammates, take a couple of photos for inspiration, and more.

Doing tasks with the vivo Y28 was convenient thanks to its comfortably large 6.68-inch 90Hz display, MediaTek Helio G85 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. The 50-megapixel camera is also reliable in shooting photos whether you’re indoor or outdoor.

From 7:11 AM to 12:38 PM of light to moderate use, I was left with 83% of battery. That’s only 17% of the juice gone from 100%.

Not-so-quick lunch break

Yes, I’m one of those people who can’t eat without a YouTube video playing on my phone. While having lunch, I spent about an hour playing videos. Then, I played a few of my favorite games, Call of Duty Mobile and PUBG Mobile. Because I got super competitive, I didn’t realize I was playing for more than an hour already.

Streaming and gaming are more enjoyable thanks to the Y28’s stereo speakers with Hi-Res audio and 300% volume booster.

After all those shenanigans, I finally put down the vivo Y28 with 62% juice left and went back to my work laptop.

Home sweet home

After lunch, I did a similar amount of work, played a few more games before packing up, and then drove home with Maps and Spotify running again at around 05:21PM. I got home with about 47% of juice left. Still plenty of battery charge left to unwind.

Once I finished having dinner and washing up, I rushed to my bed, spent about an hour on social media, and then binge-watched my current favorite series, The Bear streaming on Disney+. I managed to watch about two episodes, which took about an hour before finally calling it a night.

As my day ended, I was still left with 36% of battery. So, without a doubt, the massive 6,000mAh battery of the vivo Y28 can keep up with you even if you have a busy lifestyle like me. In fact, there’s plenty enough for a half a day in case you don’t have access to a charger.

Using it on a daily basis is a joy, especially with its premium design that’s available in Agate Green and Gleaming Orange. It is also IP64 dust and water-resistant to survive daily challenges. All that while having a thin and light build – which is impressive for a device with a large battery.

So, if you’re looking for a capable daily-driver smartphone without breaking the bank, then check out the vivo Y28, which is available in a bunch of physical vivo stores across the Philippines and online through Shopee, Lazada, and TikTok Shop for a price of only Php7,999 for 8GB RAM, 128GB version and Php9,999 for the 8GB+256GB.

Xiaomi 14 Ultra: SD 8 Gen 3, 120Hz AMOLED, 1-inch sensor, Titanium Edition

Xiaomi has introduced in China its best smartphone to date, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, just a few days before its global debut at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona this February 25. The Xiaomi 14 Ultra looks similar to its predecessor in terms of the layout. But this time, it’s more refined, and Xiaomi is joining in on the Titanium hype as it will come with a Titanium Special Edition model, which uses a grade 5 titanium like the new iPhone 15 Pro series. Oddly, it weighs 229.6g, which is heavier than the black and white (22.4.4g) and Dragon Crystal (229.5g) colors. The Titanium will also exclusively get two-way satellite communication. Another similar but refined feature is the cameras. It still has four 50-megapixel shooters, however, the main one gets an upgraded 1-inch Sony LYT-900 sensor. It also has a wider f/1.63 aperture, which can be dropped to f/4.0. The other three cameras use the same 1/2.5-inch Sony IMX858 sensor. That’s for the ultra-wide lens with a 12mm eq
